DAISY and BEE Award Nomination
Want to say thank you to your nurse? Share your Story!
The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune SYstem) Award is an international recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide every day. The DAISY Foundation was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes after he died from complications of the auto-immune disease ITP in 1999. During his hospitalization, they deeply appreciated the care and compassion shown to Patrick and his entire family. When he died, they felt compelled to say “thank you” to nurses in a very public way. To Nominate an Extraordinary Nurse: DAISY AWARD
The BEE Award for BEING EXCELLENT EVERY DAY
Just like a DAISY would not be able to grow without the help of the BEE, our nurses could not do what they do for our patients without the outstanding teamwork of other health care professionals. That’s why Raleigh General Hospital recognizes support personnel alongside nurses through a similar honor called the BEE Award. Anyone at Raleigh General Hospital who supports patient care — such as Clerks, Transporters, Housekeepers, Nursing Assistants, Imaging Techs, Respiratory Care and others — can be nominated for the BEE Award. Just like the DAISY Award, nominations can be submitted by patients, families, physicians, volunteers and staff. Recipients will be chosen by a committee at Raleigh General Hospital and will be honored with the BEE Award throughout the year.
